Fifth Pentacle of Saturn: Treasure Warden

The Fifth Pentacle of Saturn is recorded in Book I of the Key of Solomon (Clavicula Salomonis), chapters 18 and 19, among the seven seals of the Saturnian sphere. Its documented function is unusually specific among the grimoire's pentacles: it is said to "chase away the Spirits which guard treasures," and was historically pressed into service by treasure hunters seeking to break the hold of the guardian spirits said to bind wealth to a hidden hoard so that it could finally be recovered.

Saturn governs delay, restriction, and hoarding as readily as it governs discipline and structure, which makes this pentacle a fitting tool for a very modern kind of treasure-hunting: locating the resources, opportunities, or settlements that are rightfully owed to you but sit locked behind bureaucracy, old contracts, inheritance disputes, or simple institutional inertia. The pentacle is not used to conjure money from nothing — Saturn does not work that way — but to dissolve the "guardian" of red tape, gatekeeping, or stalled process that stands between you and a resource that already exists.

The working is performed on a Saturday, ideally as the moon builds toward fullness so that the clearing action of Saturn is matched with a gathering lunar current. The pentacle is drawn, consecrated, and then carried or placed at the site of the blockage — a filing cabinet of paperwork, a locked drawer of old documents, or simply held during a difficult phone call to the institution holding your resources.
