Hekate's Guardian Veil
A veil of protective darkness woven from the shadows of the underworld, shielding the wearer from psychic attack.
Ritual Overview
Hekate, the Torch-Bearer who walks the boundary between the worlds, knows all the shadows that lurk in the spaces between. Her Guardian Veil is a cloak of darkness so complete that hostile forces cannot perceive the wearer at all.
The ritual must be performed at a crossroads during the waning moon. A length of black silk is consecrated as the physical anchor for the veil. The fabric is passed through the smoke of protective herbs — wormwood, black sage, and mullein.
Once consecrated, the veil may be worn as a scarf or carried as a cloth. When threatened, the practitioner draws the veil over their head and the shadows respond, wrapping them in a cocoon of protective darkness.
Ritual Steps
Cleanse the Cloth
Wash the black cloth in moonwater and sea salt, dry in shadow.
1 night
Visualization
The salt draws out all manufactured energies, leaving the cloth pure and receptive.
Smoke Consecration
Burn wormwood, black sage, and mullein. Pass the cloth through the smoke nine times.
20 minutes
Visualization
The smoke wraps around the cloth like living serpents, depositing protective darkness.
Sew the Obsidian
Sew the obsidian shard into a corner of the cloth using black thread.
30 minutes
Visualization
The obsidian shard pulses like a beating heart, extending veins of darkness through every thread.
Veil the Mirror
Drape the veil over a mirror for three nights to absorb reflective protective properties.
3 nights
Visualization
The mirror's reflective power flows into the veil.
Final Invocation
Hold the veil to your chest and recite: "Hekate, wrap me in your shadows. May I be unseen to those who wish me harm."
10 minutes
Visualization
The veil clings to you like a second skin of darkness.
Warnings & Ethics
The Guardian Veil operates through concealment, not confrontation.
