Tidal Invocation (Calling the Waters)
A ritual invocation of the Water element through the Undine spirits, harnessing the power of emotion, intuition, healing, and the flow of psychic energy.
Ritual Overview
The Tidal Invocation is a ritual call to the Undines — the spirits of water who dwell in oceans, rivers, lakes, rain, and the fluids within all living beings. Water is the element of emotion, intuition, healing, and the deep subconscious. It is the receptive, flowing, adaptive force that shapes itself to any container while remaining essentially itself. This ritual invokes Water's power for emotional healing, psychic development, dream work, and the cleansing of the spirit.
The ideal setting for the Tidal Invocation is near natural water — the seashore, a riverbank, or a lake. If natural water is unavailable, a large basin or tub of water can serve as the focus. The water is first blessed and awakened through the sound of a singing bowl or bell, then charged with the practitioner's intention through the addition of herbs, flower petals, and essential oils.
The Undines respond to emotional sincerity rather than formal words. The practitioner is encouraged to speak from the heart, to sing, or to express their intention through movement and gesture. Water understands the language of tears, laughter, and silence. The presence of the Undines is experienced as a gentle coolness, a rippling sensation in the energy field, and an upwelling of emotion that, when released, brings profound healing.
Ritual Steps
Awaken the Water
Place the bowl of water at the western point of your circle. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt into it. Strike the singing bowl over the water three times, watching the ripples spread. Say: "Water, awake. Remember your depths. Remember your power."
10 minutes
Visualization
The water in the bowl begins to glow with a soft blue light. It is no longer just water — it is the living presence of the Undines, awakened to your call.
Adorn the Water
Drop rose petals, jasmine flowers, and a few drops of lavender oil onto the surface of the water. Watch the patterns they make as they float and disperse. Each petal is an offering, each drop of oil a prayer.
5 minutes
Visualization
The petals glow as they touch the water, each one releasing a wave of color — pink, white, gold — that spreads through the water like living light.
Invocation of the Undines
Face west. Raise the chalice and trace the invoking pentagram of water. Intone: "Undines of the Western Waters, spirits of the flowing deep, I call you. Bring your healing, your intuition, your emotional wisdom to this circle."
10 minutes
Visualization
The surface of the water becomes a mirror reflecting not the room but a vast ocean under moonlight. Shapes move beneath the surface — graceful, flowing forms.
Speak Your Intention
Speak to the water as you would speak to a wise and compassionate friend. Tell it what you need healed, what emotions you wish to release, what intuitive guidance you seek. Let your words flow naturally — water understands the language of the heart.
10 minutes
Visualization
As you speak, your words form visible ripples of light that travel into the water. The Undines listen, and their response comes as a feeling: cool, soothing, understanding.
Receive the Water's Blessing
Dip your fingertips into the water and anoint your forehead, heart, and throat. The water carries the Undines' blessing. If near natural water, release the charged water back into a river, lake, or ocean, returning the blessing to the source.
5 minutes
Visualization
As the water touches your skin, it sinks in and spreads through your body as a cool, healing light. Emotions flow freely, old wounds dissolve, and intuitive clarity dawns.
Warnings & Ethics
Emotional release during this ritual can be intense. Allow tears if they come. The Undines honor emotional authenticity. Have tissues and a warm drink ready for grounding afterward.
