Words carry differently once they leave a mouth in bad faith. The Seal of the Silenced Tongue is built specifically for slander and gossip — not for silencing disagreement or honest criticism, which the working explicitly cannot touch, but for cutting off speech intended to damage a reputation through lies or deliberate distortion. It draws on Enochian angelic script for the seal itself, on the reasoning that a binding written in a language never meant for casual human speech has no leverage points a human tongue can talk its way around.

The target's name is written on bay leaf or paper in mundane script, then enclosed within an Enochian seal copied carefully from the appropriate tablet, the letters drawn in a continuous, unbroken line around the name so the name cannot be read without passing through the seal first. Whole cloves and black pepper — both traditionally associated with silencing and binding the tongue — are bound into the same small packet, and the entire bundle is stitched shut with black thread rather than merely tied, since a working aimed at stopping speech benefits from a closure that cannot be picked open with fingers alone.

The finished packet is buried in a place the offending party has no reason to visit, or submerged in a jar of vinegar and sealed with wax if burial is not possible — vinegar's souring quality is meant to turn the slander sour in the speaker's own mouth before it reaches anyone else.
